So, I've had some questions lately about the styles of belly dance I have taken up. It's actually called tribal belly dance, but we also do some tribal fusion belly dance, which basically means the tribal style is heavily influenced by another style of dance. I'm sure this is clear as mud to y'all..so, just for you, I've put a You Tube clip here of one of the girls in my troupe performing last year at our annual "Night at the Casbah" performance. You'll see what I mean about the Tribal Fusion..obviously this dance is heavily influenced by Spanish sources. Since I just started recently, I am not going to be in the show this year, but hopefully next year about this time I will have a video of ME on here! (I can always dream, right? HA!)

HA... that was kinda close to what I was doing at Christmas. You're just jealous of my natural talent :P
Too cool! Good for you for taking the class! I have always been fascinated with belly dancing, and I finally swallowed my pride and tried it last year. I sucked. But I tried my best, tried something new, learned a few things, and was proud of myself for giving it a go even though I knew I was likely to fail (I have never been graceful or coordinated). I wish you better luck than I had! I look forward to seeing YOUR dancing video on your blog sometime soon!
PS. One thing I learned is that belly dancing is infinitely harder than it looks! Just watching it, it looks like just a little impromptu hip-shaking with some extra stomach flexing thrown in. In reality... dang!
Jenni
You're right about the belly dancing...it is hard, but people who are good at it make it look totally like the easiest thing in the world, don't they! And, believe me..you are looking at the queen of graceless and uncoordinated right here...isn't that right, Katelyn? LOL! I'm hoping though to somehow overcome that....something about belly dancing totally fascinates me too, and I would LOVE for this to be something I am GOOD at!
Aspirations...they're all good!
Oh, and also Jenni....I am sure you didn't suck! You should sign up again and we can encourage each other with embarrassing stories of dance class!
Oh man... I wish you would have taken me with you when I was there...
